Annual UNM HSC Education Day

The objectives for this conference are to:

      -Learn how to enhance PowerPoints for more active learning and more student  engagement;

      -Discover and apply new technologies to enhance learning;

      -Interact and network while learning about educational innovations and research at UNM HSC.

You are welcome to attend all day or come and go as your interest and schedule permits!

You are invited to submit any of your curriculum projects or educational research endeavors in the following formats:

      -A completed poster presented at a peer reviewed educational venue

                            and/or

      -A new poster that highlights your educational ideas or works in progress

If you are interested in showcasing your educational projects in one of the above formats, please go to the appropriate section below for submission instructions.

 

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION

 

I. A completed poster presented at a peer reviewed educational venue: This section includes posters that have previously been peer-reviewed and accepted for presentation in an educational forum. Each faculty member is invited to submit one poster from within the last 5 years that was not submitted in 2011, 2012 for UNM Education Day. If you have been involved in additional posters, please encourage one of your co-authors to submit them for the poster session. Your poster will be part of an interactive session and we ask presenters to be available to discuss their poster with attendees. All submissions of completed work (one per author) will be accepted for presentation at Education Day. There will be no additional peer review process. You will be responsible to deliver and mount your poster between 8:00 AM and 12 Noon on September 17. Your poster will be part of an interactive session 4-5:30 PM and presenters need to be available to discuss their poster with attendees. Posters should be sent in electronic format to: Dr. Marcy Osgood, mosgood@salud.unm.edu by August 30, 2013.  

 

II. A new poster of ideas or works in progress: This section includes your medical education scholarship which is in progress. This could be education research or alternatively a curriculum that was developed in a scholarly way. The work may be complete and not previously presented in an educational forum or is in process of being completed. Each faculty member is invited to submit one abstract following these guidelines:

 

For research submissions, please include the following categories: 

a.     Purpose

       Research question

       Relevant literature (up to 5)

       Methods

 For curriculum projects, please include the following categories:

       Statement of need and description of the project

       Review of relevant literature

       Evaluation of the new curriculum

 

You will be responsible to deliver and mount your poster between 8:00 AM and 12:00 Noon on September 17. Your poster will be part of an interactive session 4-5:30 PM and presenters need to be available to discuss their poster with attendees. Ideas or works in progress posters should be sent in electronic format to: Dr. Marcy Osgood, mosgood@salud.unm.edu by August 30, 2013.
